This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Act as the primary legal advisor for marketing, brand, design, paid media, and product teams.
• Offer practical, real-time legal counsel throughout the marketing lifecycle.
• Provide guidance on advertising technology, tracking, consumer data, CCPA/CPRA, PII, targeting, and disclosures.
• Structure and negotiate agreements involving creators, influencers, brand collaborations, affiliates, agencies, vendors, talent, and marketing partnerships.
• Counsel on FTC endorsement and disclosure regulations, usage and content rights, and platform terms.
• Design and review rewards programs, sweepstakes, contests, promotions, official rules, registration, bonding, and compliance across multiple states.
• Support production and content development, including talent releases, music licensing, rights clearances, and vendor agreements.
• Collaborate on claim substantiation, puffery, comparative claims, and disclaimers.
• Utilize AI tools to enhance contract review, marketing review workflows, knowledge management, and issue identification while upholding controls and confidentiality.
• Establish streamlined processes and provide self-serve guidance to enable marketing teams to operate swiftly and in compliance.
• Execute additional responsibilities as assigned by management.
• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree.
• Active membership in good standing with a U.S. state bar.
• Over 8 years of legal experience, including time at a top law firm and/or in-house.
• Minimum of 6 years concentrated on marketing, advertising, and/or ad tech law.
• Profound hands-on expertise in advertising and consumer protection law, including the FTC Act and UDAAP.
• Familiarity with promotions, sweepstakes, endorsement and influencer regulations, affiliate marketing, and advertising-related privacy matters.
• Knowledge of CCPA/CPRA, state privacy laws, PII, ad tech, and tracking technologies.
• Experience collaborating directly with C-suite and executive leadership.
• Strong drafting and negotiation skills across agreements with agencies, vendors, talent, and marketing partnerships.
• Proficiency in AI tools.
• Practical and business-oriented judgment in fast-paced, high-pressure settings.
• Clear and concise communication skills across creative, technical, and non-legal audiences.
• Preferred: experience in tech, fintech, or financial services; familiarity with marketing in a regulated industry; in-house experience at a high-growth consumer brand or platform.
