Marketing Automation Engineer, Braze

Posted Jul 18

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design and construct intricate journey flows that are multi-branch, behavior-triggered, and time-delayed, adapting to user actions within the app.

• Develop advanced email, SMS, and push notification templates utilizing dynamic templating (in Liquid), incorporating conditional content blocks, personalized variables, abort conditions, and live data integrations.

• Oversee subscription and compliance workflows for SMS opt-in/opt-out, email unsubscribing, and push permission states while adhering to TCR regulations.

• Conduct quality assurance (QA) on every campaign prior to launch and take ownership of post-launch responsibilities, including audience spot-checks, template rendering validation, link tracking, SMS encoding, and cross-client email rendering.

• Convert high-level marketing briefs into precise audience definitions, ensuring validation of logic against actual user data before launch.

• Apply best practices in Customer Engagement Platforms (CEP) to determine messaging cadence, frequency capping, and the prioritization of marketing communications across lifecycle and ad-hoc campaigns.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 4 years of experience with a leading CEP/CRM or marketing automation platform (Braze, Shopify, Iterable, Klaviyo, or similar).

• At least 2 years of experience specifically with Braze.

• Extensive knowledge in journey/canvas creation — including multi-step, behavior-triggered flows that feature branching logic, delays, and channel mixing.

• Proficiency in dynamic templating, covering conditional blocks, variable logic, and live data integrations.

• Experience in audience segmentation utilizing behavioral data, custom attributes, and event properties.

• Strong grasp of contact data models, including user profiles, identified vs. anonymous users, and subscription and consent management.

• Capability to interpret API responses and event payloads to independently troubleshoot data issues without engineering assistance.

• Proficient in Liquid coding.

• Comprehensive understanding of email deliverability essentials, such as list hygiene, bounce handling, unsubscribe management, and sender reputation.

• Knowledge of email domains/behavior and record management.

• Familiarity with SMS compliance aspects, including opt-in/opt-out processes, quiet hours, carrier filtering, and message encoding.

• Awareness of TCR rules and regulations.

🏝️ Benefits

• Generous paid time off (PTO) and company holiday policy, along with company-paid Short Term Disability.

• 100% employer-funded health and dental insurance, with options for higher-tier and dependent coverage.

• Vision plan available at the employee's expense.

• Childcare benefits and a generous parental leave policy.

• Dog-friendly office located in Austin, featuring stunning views of downtown.

• Daily lunches and snacks provided for in-office team members.
