📋 Description

• The Market Sales Director is a regionally based role focused on promoting all IHG hotels within a specific geographic area.

• This position will serve as an extension of the hotel sales team by organizing Group meetings and Local Corporate Accounts at hotels within the designated market.

• The individual will prospect, identify, and source new accounts in both the local and regional markets while working to secure room night business from these accounts in accordance with sales, market, and pricing strategies of IHG.

• Additionally, they will maintain a contact database for future sales initiatives.

• This role will spearhead regional sales efforts for a portfolio of IHG hotels to conduct sales prospecting, develop qualified sales leads, and convert room business.

• Building relationships with group meeting planners and regional corporate accounts will be essential.

• The position requires maintaining a list of key accounts, leads, and prospects to facilitate business conversion into IHG-branded hotels.

• They will manage various projects aimed at streamlining sales processes and enhancing the efficiency of regional sales operations.

• In collaboration with other business units, IHG sales teams, and hotel sales teams, this role will contribute to formulating the initial operational plan for the regional sales organization.


⛳️ Requirements

• A Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in Hospitality, Marketing, Business, or a relevant field of study, or an equivalent combination of education and practical experience is preferred.

• 6-8 years of progressive experience in the hospitality (hotel) sector, including at least 2 years in a multi-property sales role, demonstrating a solid understanding of both technical and business knowledge as well as various related disciplines/processes.

• Strong sales capabilities and adherence to a sales process, utilizing established methods and practices.

• Comprehension and experience in local and regional markets are required.

• The ability to recognize and plan sales activities in key feeder cities is essential.

• Extensive knowledge of market segments that are viable is necessary.

• A good reputation within the hotel, civic, and client communities, along with active involvement in industry-related organizations, is preferred.

• Capability to develop persuasive business case information for hotel inclusion in RFP solicitations, along with an understanding of the RFP negotiation and submission process.

• Ability to devise and execute a strategic sales plan is required.

• Proficiency in analyzing STAR, Hotelligence, and Market Vision data to inform strategic decisions.

• Regional/national sales experience is preferred.

• Familiarity with computers, particularly web-based applications and proprietary revenue management systems, is essential.

• A solid background in yield management, sales strategy, and market analysis is beneficial.

• The ability to distinguish between activity and productivity is crucial.

• Self-motivated with excellent time management and prioritization skills; sets ambitious goals and strives to achieve and surpass them.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills are necessary.

• An outgoing and friendly demeanor with the ability to establish rapport easily is important.

• Preference for candidates who have succeeded in a home-based business or virtual office environment; must have or be able to create a dedicated home office space with HSIA connectivity.

• Ability to balance work and personal life to maximize productivity during peak selling hours.

• A passion for sales and client interaction, with the ability to complete administrative tasks within deadlines and with a high degree of accuracy, is essential.
