This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Act as the primary day-to-day contact for clients, fostering trusted relationships and proactively addressing their needs.
• Facilitate client discussions to extract insights, clarify goals, and critically assess requests prior to the commencement of work.
• Transform client requests, which are often vague or broad, into clear, actionable briefs and content guidelines for manuscript creation and the creative team.
• Proactively manage client expectations regarding scope, timelines, feedback cycles, and MLR requirements.
• Offer immediate content recommendations during client meetings, supported by market access knowledge.
• Identify opportunities to enhance and broaden client interactions.
• Collaborate closely with designers and production teams to ensure that copy and visuals work together effectively for maximum impact.
• Work in tandem with the agency project management and traffic teams to oversee timelines and deliverables across various concurrent projects with minimal supervision.
• Act as the “Strategic Guardrail” throughout the creative process, ensuring design elements enhance rather than detract from the core access message.
• Interpret and leverage strategic insights from clients and consulting teams to craft brand narratives that resonate with payer stakeholders.
• Oversee the entire manuscript development process: synthesize, outline, draft, edit, and finalize content manuscripts—comprehensive, referenced, annotated documents that serve as the blueprint for the art team’s design and execution of each deliverable.
• Create clear, precise, and persuasive content aimed at market access audiences, including payers, formulary decision-makers, HCPs, and policy influencers.
• Simplify complex clinical, health economics, and policy information into engaging messages and narratives tailored for specific audiences.
• Lead the creation and development of essential market access materials, including but not limited to: payer value propositions; reimbursement, billing, medical exceptions, and coverage guides; objection handlers; formulary flashcards; HEOR and RWE data summaries; patient access brochures and educational materials; prior authorization forms and instructions; pull-through toolkits; payer and HCP email campaigns; interactive PDFs; infographics; leave-behinds; sales aid copy; payer- and HCP-focused microsite content; and training slide decks for account teams.
• Deliver manuscripts that are ready for design—featuring clear structure, hierarchy, callouts, references, and annotations—enabling the creative team to execute efficiently and accurately.
• Ensure manuscript quality and consistency across multiple projects, from initial draft through MLR submission and final release.
• Confirm that content is in line with brand tone, compliance guidelines, and legal/regulatory requirements (e.g., FDA, OPDP).
• Assist in the medical/legal/regulatory (MLR) review process, integrating feedback while preserving clarity and persuasiveness.
• 5–8+ Years of Healthcare Communications: A proven, verifiable history in pharmaceutical or healthcare messaging, with strong expertise in Market Access, Payer Marketing, or HEOR communications—this role mandates established knowledge, not on-the-job learning of the fundamentals.
• Client Management Experience: A demonstrated record of successfully managing client relationships in an agency or consultancy environment, including the ability to translate loosely defined client requests into structured briefs and deliverables.
• Entrepreneurial Self-Sufficiency: A proactive self-starter who operates with urgency and minimal guidance, comfortable navigating ambiguity, and accountable for results from kickoff to delivery.
• Exceptional Manuscript & Writing Skills: Capability to act as a “Strategic Storyteller,” with a portfolio showcasing the ability to convert complex pharmaceutical data into persuasive, clear, and audience-appropriate content—and to organize that content into design-ready manuscripts that art and production teams can execute.
• Data Translation Expertise: Proficient in interpreting clinical data, health economics, and policy changes, with the skill to articulate these “strategic inputs” for non-clinical payer and provider audiences.
• U.S. Payer Landscape Literacy: A functional understanding of the U.S. reimbursement ecosystem, including formulary decision-making, PBM dynamics, coding/billing pathways, and value-based messaging.
• Creative Collaboration: Experience working alongside art directors, designers, and digital production teams to create integrated campaigns where copy and visuals complement each other.
• MLR & Technical Proficiency: Extensive experience with the Medical/Legal/Regulatory (MLR) review process, including proficiency within the Veeva Vault platform for submissions and markups.
• Regulatory Rigor: Solid understanding of industry compliance standards, including fair balance, ISI requirements, referencing standards, and the distinction between promotional and non-promotional materials.
• Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Life Sciences, Marketing, or Journalism; an advanced degree (MPH, MS, MBA, or similar) is highly regarded.
• Agency or Consultancy Experience: Previous experience in a dynamic agency or strategic consultancy, demonstrating the confidence to lead client discussions and provide immediate content recommendations.
• Startup Agility: Comfort in a “scrappy,” high-growth, or small-agency environment where adaptability is essential, deadlines are often tight, and contributions extend beyond defined job roles.
• Operational Excellence: Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the capability to manage the intricacies of multiple concurrent projects while maintaining focus on the strategic “big picture.”
• 401k - generous employer match with immediate vesting and financial planning resources.
• Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage options effective on the first day of employment.
• Flexible spending account (FSA) or Health Savings Account (HSA).
• Company-paid insurances, including Short- and Long-Term Disability and Life insurance, along with additional voluntary options.
• Paid parental leave for all new parents.
• Health & Wellness Benefit (e.g., gym memberships; $1000 reimbursement annually).
• Employee Assistance Program.
• Generous paid time off, including vacation, sick days, floating, and company holidays.
