Marine Fleet Coordinator

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Provide guidance to Station Management on a variety of marine-related issues.

• Demonstrate the ability and eagerness to mentor and deliver advanced training to Station Staff.

• Manage and maintain a fleet consisting of approximately fifteen active small boats, which includes inflatable boats and outboard motors.

• Operate vehicles and equipment for the launching and recovering of small boats using trailers.

• Responsibilities for maintenance encompass, but are not limited to: inboard diesel engines, hydraulics, outboard motors, inflatable boats, and rigid hull inflatables, along with proper inventory management and tracking of spare parts.

• Create and implement training programs and oversight for station personnel focusing on marine safety.

• Head the Ocean Search and Rescue (OSAR) team.

• Organize and document monthly drills and training sessions.

• Keep records of daily operations, including vessel logs, situation reports, fuel consumption, equipment maintenance, vessel launch/recovery, and turnover reports.

⛳️ Requirements

• Valid USCG Captain’s OUVP license.

• At least six (6+) years of experience serving as a vessel Captain, or in a senior engineering/systems design position.

• Two (2+) of the six (6+) years must involve maintaining small vessel systems and hulls, or equivalent experience.

• Background in commercial marine operations such as the merchant marine, fisheries, or boatyards.

• Proven experience with coastal navigation, electronic navigation, and dead reckoning.

• Experience in training individuals in small vessel operations.

• Established leadership abilities in vessel scheduling, maintenance, and operation.

• Capability to mentor and offer advanced training to station staff and scientists.

• In-depth knowledge of small vessel operations, trailering, troubleshooting, and maintenance.

• Demonstrated skills in repairing and troubleshooting engines and/or machinery, including 4-stroke outboards, diesel engines, and inflatables.

• Strong independent problem-solving and multitasking abilities.

• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; must effectively manage challenging situations and communicate across diverse stakeholders.

• Must hold a valid Driver’s License issued in the United States.
