Mandarin Chinese Tutor – Children

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.

📋 Description

• Assist children in enhancing their proficiency in Chinese through enjoyable and engaging discussions on our proprietary video-conference platform utilizing PandaTree's captivating content modules.

• Support students gently with new vocabulary or corrections as necessary and incorporate new words into the student’s customized word list. After the lesson, tutors provide a written update note.

• Each tutoring session lasts 25 or 50 minutes, with a required preparation time of five to 15 minutes for each lesson. Sessions are recorded for later review by the student and to ensure quality assurance.

⛳️ Requirements

• Articulate Mandarin speaker with native fluency.

• Strong proficiency in both spoken and written English.

• Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree, or PhD with a specialization in education or language.

• A minimum of 2 years of experience teaching or interacting with children, preferably in a classroom environment. Previous tutoring experience (online or face-to-face) is also beneficial.

• Must be patient, kind, energetic, and FUN. Tutors should possess an engaging and encouraging demeanor during video-conferencing.

• Must reside in the U.S. and possess legal authorization to work in the U.S. (New hires will be required to complete an I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification.)

• Punctuality for tutoring sessions is essential.

• Willingness and ability to commit to a minimum of 9 months working with PandaTree.

• Technical requirements:

• A reliable, high-speed internet connection: Minimum of 100 Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload. (Visit www.speedtest.net to check.)

• A laptop or desktop computer, less than 2 years old, either Mac or PC.

• A functioning camera and microphone (either built-in or external).

• Adequate lighting for a well-lit face.

• A quiet, private, and interruption-free room with a plain background to conduct online tutoring sessions.

• Compensation ranges from $18 to $24 per hour (tutors who conduct over 15 hours per week are eligible for a higher pay rate).
