This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States, +1 more state.
• Lead initial evaluations of prospective renewable tax credit transactions and assess the completeness of underwriting packages.
• Collaborate with project developers to collect necessary information and documentation.
• Oversee and assess diligence memorandums related to clean energy tax credits and regulatory compliance.
• Maintain extensive knowledge of transaction structuring, clean energy tax credit regulations, and rules to guide underwriting decisions.
• Develop comprehensive underwriting policies categorized by credit type.
• Build and expand a high-performing team of underwriting principals and senior managers.
• Mentor and nurture junior talent while promoting subject-matter expertise.
• Lead projects aimed at enhancing underwriting processes through technology and tools in collaboration with product engineering, legal, and marketing teams.
• Analyze financial, technical, and legal documents along with project feasibility to ascertain credit eligibility.
• Review tax credit insurance policies to ensure adequate risk mitigation.
• Conduct risk assessments for potential credit-claim issues.
• Prepare comprehensive credit approval or denial reports along with recommendations.
• Cultivate long-term relationships with tax and finance leaders at major Fortune 250 tax credit buyers.
• Establish new connections through conferences, networking, outreach, partnerships, and inbound opportunities.
• Represent the company as a market expert in webinars and conference panels.
• 14+ years of experience in financial services, renewable energy, or a related field.
• Preferred background in renewable energy project finance, banking, or Big Four firms.
• Strong knowledge of the Inflation Reduction Act, relevant IRS tax codes, renewable energy, underwriting, and risk management.
• In-depth understanding of renewable energy project underwriting, including equipment evaluation and performance assessment.
• Fundamental knowledge of U.S. energy markets, regulatory frameworks, physical and synthetic power agreements, derivatives, and region-specific renewable incentives.
• Highly developed analytical skills with the ability to simplify intricate problems.
• Excellent oral and written communication capabilities.
• Experience in project management and a strong desire to develop a new initiative and lead a team within a growing organization.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with commercial and technology teams.
• Strong relationship-building skills with a knack for establishing trust rapidly.
• Willingness to travel 25% of the time.
• FINRA SIE, Series 79, and Series 63 certifications required, or willingness to obtain under Crux’s broker-dealer sponsorship.
