This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• Guide and nurture the team on a daily basis, fostering a healthy and values-driven culture within a small, distributed organization.
• Spearhead the development of the center — a cross-functional initiative — in collaboration with program, development, and editorial teams.
• Safeguard the founder's time, energy, and focus, serving as a trusted advisor and representative.
• Supervise six senior and mid-level staff members, offering direction and coaching to ensure that marketing and communications (including the CEO's thought leadership and organizational branding), fund development, donor management, and grantmaking functions operate in full harmony with the organizational strategy.
• Convert the CEO’s vision into actionable plans and goals, ensuring the organization remains laser-focused on operationalizing and tracking his priorities.
• Manage finance and operations, technology, learning and evaluation, and human resources, serving as the primary liaison with contracted operations vendors; produce, review, and interpret monthly financial reports for the CEO, while ensuring efficient systems, processes, and workflows that foster DWP's growth and impact.
• Facilitate cross-departmental coordination and alignment, ensuring smooth collaboration among grantmaking, development, communications/storytelling, and operations teams.
• Create and maintain organizational dashboards, key performance indicators, and reporting systems to monitor progress toward strategic objectives.
• 7 to 10 years of experience in operations or management leadership, preferably in a mission-driven environment, including time as a #2 (Chief of Staff, COO, ED, or equivalent). We encourage strong candidates from all sectors, including corporate and other fields.
• A proven history of managing an organization or significant function, with a solid understanding of nonprofit budgets, cash flow, and reporting.
• Demonstrable experience in developing and executing organizational strategies, with a successful track record of driving strategic initiatives from inception to completion.
• Strong leadership abilities and a knack for creating just enough process without unnecessary bureaucracy, especially in a virtual setting.
• A strong alignment with DWP’s values concerning racial and economic justice, along with a clear understanding of DWP's position within the philanthropic ecosystem.
• Direct experience in philanthropy or social impact is advantageous.
• Strong project management skills, with the capability to oversee complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives that have competing priorities and tight deadlines.
• A Bachelor's degree is required; a Master's degree in nonprofit management, public policy, business administration, or a related field is highly preferred.
• Comprehensive 100% employer-paid health, vision, and dental insurance for all team members, with partial premium coverage for spouses and children.
• OneMedical account for accessible primary care (in available locations).
• Access to mental health care and telehealth services.
• Availability of short-term and long-term disability, FSA, and Dependent FSA accounts.
• Opportunities for individual and team healing experiences.
• Generous paid time off: 10 days PTO in addition to most federal holidays.
• Care-centered flexible sick leave policy.
• Winter Break: Two weeks off starting in late December through early January.
• Summer Break: One week off, typically occurring in late June or early July.
• 401(k) retirement plan with employer contributions.
• Opportunities for professional development, mentorship, and support for ongoing learning.
