This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Ensure that Multiplier’s financial systems, payroll operations, and accounting practices uphold the organization's integrity.
• Lead, mentor, develop, and manage a high-performing team in accounting and payroll.
• Collaborate with various departments to incorporate accounting, payroll, and financial considerations early in organizational planning and decision-making.
• Provide strategic oversight for accounting and payroll operations, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, completeness, and integrity.
• Prepare quarterly financial statements for the organization and present them to senior leadership and the Board of Directors.
• Review all incoming awards, ensuring appropriate coding and recording, while monitoring banking activities and reviewing reconciliations.
• Lead the annual external audit and tax return preparation, coordinating with external auditors and supplying necessary documentation and reports.
• Proven ability to lead and enhance accounting operations within a complex organization.
• Experienced leader with over 10 years in roles such as accounting director, controller, or similar positions in a nonprofit organization.
• Comprehensive knowledge of U.S. nonprofit accounting principles, payroll operations, internal controls, policies, and best practices.
• Demonstrated success in developing and enhancing accounting systems, policies, and practices that improve compliance, operational effectiveness, and organizational sustainability.
• Commitment to fostering a collaborative, supportive, and inclusive team culture while embodying values-aligned leadership and equitable workplace practices.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Strong analytical and decision-making abilities with a knack for assessing financial and operational risks.
• Proven capability to design, enhance, and oversee accounting systems, workflows, and operational processes that promote efficiency, accuracy, scalability, and sound financial management practices.
• Ability to thrive in a dynamic and evolving environment, managing changing priorities and supporting organizational change with flexibility and sound judgment.
