This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.
• Prepare agendas, notices, and minutes for board meetings, committees, and annual general meetings (AGM) while executing any necessary follow-up actions;
• Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts, providing general transactional support across the organization with a strong focus on sales and procurement;
• Assist in the formulation of local policies and procedures;
• Stay updated on the evolving legal landscape concerning applicable laws, regulations, and industry guidance that influence commercial agreements, corporate governance, employment, and other areas;
• Offer practical, business-oriented legal counsel to stakeholders in sales, procurement, finance, HR, product, and leadership teams regarding daily operational and strategic matters;
• Provide advice on employment and labor law issues, including compliance with relevant labor codes, employee relations, and policy implementation;
• Aid in the creation and enhancement of playbooks to define company parameters for scaling the legal function as the organization expands;
• Mentor junior legal team members and contribute to the establishment of scalable legal processes and best practices;
• Collaborate effectively in a dynamic environment across various functional groups and time zones;
• Deliver legal and strategic business guidance to ensure agreements align with playbooks, internal policies, and processes;
• Assist the AlphaSense legal team with all other legal matters as required.
• Fully qualified lawyer with admission to practice law in India;
• At least 6+ years of experience in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial customer and vendor agreements, along with advising on corporate governance matters for our Indian entities, whether in-house or at a nationally recognized law firm (or a combination of both);
• Proficient in reviewing and negotiating a broad spectrum of commercial contracts, including Master Services Agreements, Services Agreements, Statements of Work (SOWs), Service Level Agreements, Order Forms, NDAs, etc.;
• Proven experience providing daily legal support to cross-functional stakeholders, including Sales, Procurement, Finance, HR, and leadership teams;
• Strong understanding of Indian employment and labor laws, including advising stakeholders on compliance with labor codes, workforce-related issues, disciplinary actions, and HR policies;
• Capable of delivering practical, risk-based legal advice on general corporate, regulatory, compliance, and operational matters while balancing business objectives with legal risk;
• Experience in managing, developing, and coaching team members;
• Exceptional business acumen with a strong dedication to providing responsive service to teams, ensuring tasks are completed; approaches responsibilities with a business-friendly and pragmatic attitude while maintaining an appropriate balance of legal risk;
• Experience advising international teams and managing cross-border legal and commercial issues;
• Energetic, genuine, and approachable with a good sense of humor; adept at demonstrating strong negotiation skills and supporting challenging positions with firmness and patience;
• Effective communicator capable of interacting with a diverse range of internal and external professionals;
• Experience with training, contract management systems, and data privacy is a plus.
