Manager, Software Engineering – L4

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in India.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of creating exceptional experiences for Twilio customers by:

• Acting as a supporter for your team, prioritizing their success and fostering personal growth.

• Grasping the architecture and processes essential for developing and managing consistently available complex and scalable distributed systems in cloud settings.

• Promoting agile methodologies, continuous integration, and test automation.

• Being a strategic problem solver and excelling in a broad operational scope, from initial conception to the ongoing operation of 24x7 services.

• Demonstrating strong communication abilities: whether in person or in writing. You can convey technical concepts to product managers, architects, fellow engineers, and support teams.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 10+ years of experience, with at least 5 years of proven success in leading and managing software teams.

• Experience in overseeing multiple workstreams within the team.

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

• Technical expertise in:

• REST APIs

• Programming languages: Java/GoLang

• Relational databases such as MySQL

• Container technologies - Docker/Kubernetes.

• Modern automated testing and CI/CD pipelines.

• SaaS Telemetry and Observability tools like Datadog, Graphana, and Prometheus.

• Outstanding problem-solving, critical thinking, and communication skills.

• Comprehensive knowledge of development environments and tools utilized for code implementation and deployment.

• Strong familiarity with agile methodologies, continuous integration, and a firm belief in automation over repetitive tasks.

• As a pragmatic thinker, you can simplify complex and uncertain situations into actionable plans for your team.

• Have managed services comprehensively, from gathering requirements and design to debugging, testing, release management, and operational monitoring.
