This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Argentina.
• Lead and develop a team of software engineers focused on Backblaze cloud services, which includes both customer-facing features and essential infrastructure.
• Take ownership of the software development lifecycle for your team: planning, design, implementation, and post-launch support, collaborating with QA and release teams for testing and delivery.
• Engage in feature development and infrastructure enhancements that broaden Backblaze cloud service capabilities for developers, enterprises, and AI workloads.
• Ensure the reliability and maintainability of cloud service components through ongoing support, bug resolution, and management of technical debt.
• Actively participate in code reviews, architectural decisions, and technical problem-solving alongside your team.
• Collaborate with Product Management to shape roadmap priorities and long-term strategy, offering engineering insights and data to influence decision-making, and translating agreed priorities into well-defined plans with clear milestones.
• Work closely with QA and release engineering teams to ensure smooth transitions, clear acceptance criteria, and high-quality delivery.
• Advocate for the effective use of AI-assisted development tools; actively mentor team members in adopting agentic coding practices and help establish team norms around AI-augmented workflows.
• Continuously enhance team productivity: identify bottlenecks, refine processes, and invest in tools, practices, and team habits that empower engineers to perform at their best.
• Conduct regular one-on-ones, deliver performance reviews, support career development, and lead hiring efforts to expand and strengthen the team.
• 3+ years of engineering management experience leading software development teams, preferably in a cloud infrastructure, SaaS, or platform engineering setting.
• Proven experience managing distributed, remote engineering teams across different time zones, including effective asynchronous communication, remote collaboration practices, and keeping remote team members engaged and aligned.
• Strong foundation in software engineering with expertise in system architecture; capable of engaging hands-on in technical discussions, design reviews, and architectural decisions.
• Comprehensive understanding of the full software development lifecycle, from requirements and design through testing, deployment, and production support.
• History of delivering features and platform improvements on schedule with high quality, balancing speed with engineering rigor.
• Experience collaborating closely with Product Management to refine roadmaps and translate priorities into actionable engineering plans.
• Effective communicator: able to clearly represent your team’s work to leadership and stakeholders, conduct engineering reviews, and escalate risks and trade-offs with appropriate context and recommended solutions.
• Familiarity with AI agentic coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor, or similar) is a plus; we actively utilize these tools and value leaders who embrace and promote their use.
• Experience with cloud storage platforms, distributed systems, or developer-facing APIs is advantageous.
