This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Support CEG’s consulting practice in delivering client projects, primarily focusing on power system planning.
• Assist with project management tasks, including the creation of work plans, coordination of deliverable development, and communication with clients.
• Conduct qualitative and quantitative evaluations of power system planning studies performed by colleagues, including assessing assumptions and methodologies.
• Develop, employ, and maintain custom spreadsheet-based tools, optimization models, and various analytical platforms to analyze energy technologies, programs, and portfolios.
• Perform independent analyses to evaluate the impacts of different policies.
• Create client deliverables such as reports, presentations, and official regulatory filings.
• Provide assistance with editing, formatting, proofreading, fact-checking, and summarizing comments, reports, and presentations to ensure precision and professionalism.
• Contribute to the firm’s thought leadership regarding best practices for power system planning and execution.
• Lead and manage projects and proposals, including budget oversight, staff coordination, and client relations, with an emphasis on electric-sector resource planning issues.
• Organize meetings, schedules, and team resources to guarantee deadlines are met and client satisfaction is achieved.
• Oversee and mentor staff as both a project manager and staff manager, acting as a critical thinker and decision-maker in addressing challenges and finding solutions.
• Maintain clear and open communication with the team to ensure alignment on objectives, expectations, and updates.
• 6-8 years of general industry experience, preferably in electric utility regulation or modeling, or an advanced degree in Economics, Energy and Environmental Policy, Physical Sciences, Engineering, Operations Research, or a related field.
• At least 3 years of project management experience in a consulting role or similar position.
• Proficient in scoping and executing spreadsheet analyses, developing models, and producing client-ready deliverables to effectively communicate findings.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the capability to collaborate effectively across various teams.
• Experience or background in technical or legal writing and research.
• Adept at multitasking and prioritizing critical tasks while managing conflicting demands under tight deadlines.
• Experienced in managing and training staff, with a demonstrated ability to delegate tasks effectively within a team.
• Optional: Familiarity with Capacity Expansion Planning and Production Cost Modeling Software (such as EnCompass, AURORA, PLEXOS, ReEDS, Sienna, GridPath, GenX, etc.).
