This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Hawaii.
• Oversee the team tasked with detecting, investigating, responding to, and learning from security incidents at Rula.
• Provide management and coaching to a team of engineers while staying engaged with technical tasks such as detection design, alert tuning, incident response, runbooks, operations, and security automation.
• Cultivate relationships with security operations vendors and collaborate closely with Security, Engineering, IT, Compliance, Privacy, and external partners to enhance Rula's capability to safeguard patient and provider data.
• Develop effective security operations within a high-trust environment, emphasizing clear communication, sound judgment, and measurable results over titles or jargon.
• A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in security operations, detection engineering, incident response, threat hunting, cloud security, or a similar security engineering position.
• At least 2 years of direct management experience overseeing security engineers, incident responders, analysts, or a security operations/detection and response team.
• Hands-on experience in building, tuning, and operating detections within a modern SIEM and managing a SOAR tool (or equivalent security operations solutions).
• Proven expertise in leading or significantly contributing to incident response efforts, including triage, containment, stakeholder communication, and post-incident enhancements.
• Familiarity with cloud service provider and SaaS security telemetry, identity logs, endpoint security signals, and common adversary behaviors.
