This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.
• Lead the safety, security, and discipline services at FLVS.
• Collaborate to address behavioral, safety, and security concerns.
• Ensure adherence to effective threat coordination and school safety protocols.
• Offer operational support, technical guidance, and training for district, school, and administrative personnel.
• Supervise the analysis of relevant data to identify emerging trends and provide recommendations for system and process improvements.
• Act as the primary liaison between Florida Virtual School and the Office of Safe Schools.
• Function as the District Threat Management Coordinator for FLVS.
• Investigate incidents concerning student discipline in accordance with the student code of conduct.
• Collaborate with external agencies, including local law enforcement.
• Serve as the contact point for all SESIR Incidents.
• Offer training and resources to students, families, and staff.
• Provide direct consultation and guidance to students and parents regarding threat management.
• Assist in coordinating student support and re-entry plans.
• Support Threat Management Teams at the district and school level.
• Monitor data related to Discipline, School Safety, Threat Management, and Baker Act.
• Review FLVS policies and procedures to ensure compliance with state laws.
• Manage, support, and respond to FORTIFYFL alerts for the district.
• Plan, organize, and coordinate the district’s Safety and Security Plan.
• Collaborate with facilities to conduct on-site safety inspections.
• Oversee Discipline Reviews to assess enrollment appropriateness.
• Lead and manage assigned direct reports.
• Prepare all necessary reports and maintain proper records.
• Uphold the confidentiality of student information as required.
• Master’s Degree in a related field is preferred.
• Three to five years of experience in Law Enforcement, Safety and Security, or Discipline within an Educational Environment.
• Preferred three years of supervisory or management experience.
• Strong interpersonal and motivational abilities.
• Familiarity with Student Codes of Conduct.
• Understanding of SESIR reporting standards.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
• Knowledge of all state and federal education guidelines.
• Understanding of Threat Management procedures.
• Certified YMHFA Trainer.
• Awareness of all state regulations, laws, policies, and procedures relevant to school safety, discipline, and security.
• Proficient in organization, prioritization, and planning; capable of meeting tight deadlines.
• Ability to employ innovative problem-solving strategies to achieve objectives.
• Capacity to work collaboratively with others to set goals, objectives, and action plans.
