This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Lead, expand, and cultivate a team of over 3 data scientists and governance experts.
• Take ownership of enhancing performance monitoring, drift monitoring, fair lending evaluations, governance documentation, validation, model inventory, and change management.
• Establish the long-term vision for the model governance function, focusing on automation and standardization priorities.
• Manage governance-related interactions across Data Science, Engineering, Partner Success, and Sales.
• Conduct customer-facing calls and oversee relationships with model risk teams at banks and fintech firms.
• Assist customers in the adoption process while adhering to governance standards and facilitate deal closures or deployments.
• Generate validation reports, governance documentation, and performance summaries for leadership, clients, auditors, and regulators.
• Monitor governance findings through the remediation process and oversee the team roadmap.
• Engage in hands-on governance tasks when necessary and provide mentorship to the team.
• Over 8 years of experience in model risk management, model validation, model governance, or quantitative risk.
• Demonstrated success in establishing or scaling a governance/risk team.
• At least 4 years of experience in people management.
• Proven track record in building and expanding model risk or governance teams.
• Extensive understanding of model governance for financial institutions, including SR 11-7, SR 26-2, OCC guidance, fair lending, and the regulatory landscape.
• Direct experience in validating or overseeing ML/statistical models in a regulated setting.
• Capability to interpret models, analyze methodologies, and collaborate effectively with data scientists.
• Proficient in Python.
• Strong skills in SQL.
• Excellent analytical abilities with Excel/Google Sheets.
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills; capable of conveying technical findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline such as Math, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, or a related STEM field.
• Must possess legal authorization to work and reside in the US.
• Nice to have: experience in fraud, identity verification, credit risk, or financial risk models.
• Nice to have: experience in supporting model governance with banks or regulated financial institutions.
• Nice to have: familiarity with AWS (S3, SageMaker) and GitHub.
• A Master's degree in a quantitative field is preferred as a desirable qualification.
