This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New York.
• Take ownership of data flows and system dependencies that support financial reporting, ensuring traceability from source to GL.
• Independently query and verify extensive transaction datasets (e.g., SQL/Snowflake) to facilitate the closing process, reconciliations, and control testing.
• Analyze revenue outcomes and variances, uncover trends, and present actionable insights to leadership.
• Collaborate with Data Engineering and Analytics to develop scalable, automated accounting workflows that minimize manual efforts during close.
• Identify data quality concerns upstream of the GL and lead resolution efforts alongside technical and business partners.
• Manage and execute the monthly revenue close process, ensuring accuracy, punctuality, and compliance with GAAP standards.
• Review and supervise revenue share calculations, account reconciliations, and accounts receivable matching results.
• Establish processes for the preparation and recording of essential journal entries.
• Maintain process documentation and ensure readiness for SOX controls as the business expands.
• Ensure compliance of revenue accounting practices with GAAP guidelines.
• Coordinate and oversee external audit requests, including PBCs, walkthroughs, and follow-ups.
• Act as the revenue accounting lead for independent state audits and regulatory assessments.
• Keep audit-ready documentation that links transactional data sources to reported balances.
• Support cross-functional initiatives, including new product launches, cost of revenue analyses, and ad-hoc accounting requests.
• Collaborate with senior leaders across data, tax, treasury, legal, and FP&A to offer accounting guidance on new business ventures.
• Provide hands-on leadership to a team of revenue accounting professionals, balancing direct execution with coaching, reviews, and team development.
• Be open to occasional travel to FBG offices and other locations for conferences, events, meetings, and team-building activities.
• A Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 5–7 years of experience in revenue accounting, accounting operations, or a similar finance role, with a minimum of 2 years in a position involving direct data analysis or systems work.
• Proficient knowledge of US GAAP regarding revenue recognition and internal controls.
• Proven ability to independently query and analyze large datasets — SQL proficiency is required; experience with cloud data platforms (Snowflake, BigQuery, etc.) is highly preferred.
• Experience in coordinating annual external audits (PBC management, walkthroughs, follow-ups).
• Strong skills in Excel/Google Sheets for financial modeling and variance analysis.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the capability to translate data findings into accounting conclusions.
