Manager, Revenue Accounting – Billing

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• You are responsible for the latter part of our revenue engine — overseeing everything that occurs after a deal is finalized and before funds are deposited into the bank.

• Ensure the accuracy of every dollar in subscription revenue by managing the month-end closing process — including revenue journals, deferred revenue schedules, reconciliations, and variance analyses.

• Maintain the billing systems by serving as the functional owner of the revenue layer within NetSuite.

• Lower Days Sales Outstanding (DSO) and minimize manual exceptions each quarter by identifying and resolving issues at their source.

• Manage the order-to-invoice process across various billing entities with precision, punctuality, and compliance with indirect tax regulations.

• Integrate AI into team workflows to automate repetitive tasks, quickly identify anomalies, and create capacity for more valuable work.

• Lead structural projects initiated by Finance leadership, acting as the primary coordination hub among Finance, RevOps, and Customer Success.

⛳️ Requirements

• CPA designation, combined with 7–10 years of finance experience, including a minimum of 3 years in a revenue accounting, billing operations, or finance operations role within a SaaS or subscription-based organization;

• Extensive knowledge of subscription revenue mechanics — such as recurring billing, contract amendments, renewals, deferred revenue, and the correlation between ARR and recognized revenue;

• Strong understanding of ASPE revenue recognition (Section 3400) in a subscription context; familiarity with IFRS 15 or ASC 606 is advantageous;

• Practical experience with NetSuite (preferred, ideally with Advanced Revenue Management) or a comparable ERP system, along with a subscription billing platform (Recurly, Zuora, Maxio, or similar);

• Experience with indirect/sales tax in a SaaS environment — including invoice application and return filing; experience with Avalara is a plus;

• Proven people-leadership experience — you have managed a team, established priorities, and nurtured your direct reports;

• Regular and proactive use of AI tools in a finance or operations setting — you actively seek to incorporate these technologies rather than merely adjusting to them.
