This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Oversee the long-term rates work stream for RMI, which includes setting strategic objectives, monitoring progress, planning and managing project execution and timelines, and producing high-quality outputs.
• Act as a subject matter expert and thought leader regarding rate design opportunities, ensuring the technical integrity and feasibility of proposed solutions.
• Supervise the ongoing development, maintenance, and quality assurance of in-house analytical tools for rate analytics (developed in Python and Excel), mentoring junior staff on analytical modeling and methodology design.
• Create presentations, research reports, articles, webinars, and other materials tailored for external audiences.
• Distill complex technical and policy information into clear findings and actionable recommendations.
• Lead working sessions with a diverse group of internal and external participants to foster shared progress and knowledge.
• Establish and sustain relationships with industry partners, governmental agencies, non-profit organizations, and national thought leaders to promote lasting solutions among these stakeholders.
• Assist in grant reporting and progress documentation.
• Aid in the development of proposals for both philanthropic and fee-for-service initiatives.
• Supervise 1-3 junior staff, offering daily guidance, technical coaching, and direct support for their professional development.
• Manage project budgets, work plans, and staffing allocations across various projects.
• A Bachelor’s degree in economics, engineering, public policy, finance, or a related quantitative field.
• A minimum of 6 years of relevant professional experience (or an advanced degree with 4+ years) in building decarbonization, utility regulation, electric rate design, or clean energy policy.
• Direct experience in managing staff or leading project teams, with a proven ability to mentor junior team members, delegate responsibilities efficiently, provide constructive feedback, and facilitate their professional growth.
• Established capability to oversee quantitative analysis—particularly in electric rate design, utility cost-of-service, or building electrification economics—and to convert complex technical outcomes into actionable policy solutions.
• A demonstrated history of managing intricate projects from initial scoping to final delivery, including budget management, timeline adherence, and quality control.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to create impactful deliverables (e.g., reports, policy briefs, slide presentations) and to communicate complex technical or policy concepts effectively to non-technical external audiences.
