This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Assist in the curation and implementation of speaker-focused programming for AfroTech and other Blavity live events.
• Oversee the speaker experience, manage session logistics, and ensure programming content is accurate and on schedule from the planning phase to on-site execution.
• Act as the secondary liaison for speakers, providing support to the Senior Manager of Programming.
• Independently handle programming for smaller events, such as one-day activations and virtual summits, taking full ownership of these projects from agenda creation to execution.
• Prepare initial program agendas based on themes or topics as instructed by the executive team and Senior Manager, converting strategic programming priorities into structured session formats.
• Aid in the development and organization of session tracks, agenda grids, and programming timelines in accordance with the themes and objectives set by leadership.
• Help manage the call for proposals (CFP) process, which includes tracking submissions, coordinating reviews, and communicating results to applicants.
• Keep programming documentation updated across events, ensuring that the content meets quality standards and aligns with the educational and experiential goals of each event.
• 3-5 years of experience in conference programming is essential.
• Candidates must possess direct, hands-on experience overseeing speaker-driven event content and session logistics for conferences or large-scale live events.
• Proficient in drafting agendas, session tracks, or programming plans based on strategic direction.
• Familiarity with the call for participants (CFP) process and experience managing communications with speakers across various events or tracks.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail; capable of managing multiple workstreams and deadlines while maintaining accuracy.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to edit session descriptions and handle professional correspondence with speakers.
• Experience with event management software (Sessionboard or similar) and virtual platform tools is advantageous.
• Proficient in Google Suite (especially Google Sheets) and Asana; comfortable working within established systems and ensuring data integrity.
• Ability to work independently and take complete ownership of smaller projects from inception to completion.
• A genuine connection to Black culture, technology, and the AfroTech community, along with a passion for producing events that resonate with and serve our audience.
• Contractors will need to provide their own equipment.
