This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Take ownership of the complete UX/UI design process for nextRec, encompassing discovery, wireframing, prototyping, and the preparation of delivery-ready specifications.
• Collaborate with Product Managers and Engineering leads to convert roadmap priorities into high-quality design deliverables within specified timelines.
• Ensure the maintenance of design velocity and uphold quality standards.
• Contribute to the development of design system standards and component libraries in partnership with the wider Recreation Design Team.
• Utilize AI tools as an integral part of your design workflow and assist your direct reports in adopting similar methodologies.
• Formally oversee a small team of product designers as direct reports.
• Conduct regular one-on-one meetings, performance evaluations, and developmental discussions.
• Facilitate design reviews and offer structured, actionable feedback that enhances team output.
• Model and document AI-augmented design methodologies.
• Engage in cross-functional forums including sprint planning and roadmap evaluations.
• Lead the hiring and onboarding processes for the Recreation Design Team.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in product design or a related field, including roles in leadership, senior, or supervisory capacities.
• Demonstrated capability to maintain a high standard of individual design output while guiding and providing feedback to team members.
• Proficient in conducting design reviews, delivering actionable feedback, and supporting junior designers in skill development.
• A strong portfolio showcasing comprehensive UX/UI design, including research, wireframes, high-fidelity UI, and finalized products.
• Experience collaborating directly with Product Management and Engineering in an Agile or sprint-focused environment.
• Ability to clearly articulate design rationale to Product and Engineering peers in cross-functional contexts.
• Proficient in Figma (or an equivalent design tool) and well-versed in design system methodologies.
• Experience in SaaS product design, particularly with B2B or vertical SaaS products targeting SMB or enterprise clients (preferred).
• Hands-on experience incorporating AI tools into the design workflow (preferred).
• Background in contributing to or developing a design system from existing foundations (preferred).
• Familiarity with recreation, fitness, education, or similar vertical SaaS markets (preferred).
• Experience within a distributed or multi-brand organization (preferred).
