
Manager, Litigation Docketing

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +4 more states.
β’ Lead the litigation docketing team, managing workload distribution, training, quality assurance, feedback, and professional growth.
β’ Supervise the calculation, entry, review, maintenance, and reporting of litigation deadlines, court dates, filing dates, discovery deadlines, appellate deadlines, and associated events.
β’ Create and enhance docketing policies, procedures, workflows, checklists, best practices, and quality control standards.
β’ Act as a resource for attorneys and staff regarding court rules, local practices, deadline calculations, and docketing protocols.
β’ Keep abreast of changes in court rules and procedures, updating docketing practices and reference materials as necessary.
β’ Review docket reports for precision, completeness, and timely communication of critical deadlines.
β’ Assist the Director in managing docketing platforms, including calendaring rules, reporting, user adoption, data accuracy, troubleshooting, and vendor coordination.
β’ Support software updates, enhancements, testing, implementations, and system conversions in collaboration with the docket team, IT, vendors, practice groups, and end-users.
β’ Provide training on docketing procedures, software functionalities, workflows, and best practices.
β’ Maintain procedures, training guides, workflow documentation, internal communications, and reference resources.
β’ Handle escalations related to complex deadline calculations, court notices, disputed dates, and advanced rules analysis.
β’ Uphold confidentiality and professionalism when managing sensitive client, matter, personnel, and firm information.
β’ A minimum of 5 years of experience in litigation docketing, calendaring, or case management in a law firm, corporate legal department, court, or a similar legal setting.
β’ A Bachelor's Degree is preferred; equivalent experience in litigation docketing, court, or legal operations may be considered.
β’ Supervisory, lead, or management experience in docketing or legal operations is strongly preferred.
β’ Practical experience with docketing software such as CompuLaw or CourtAlert, covering calendaring, reporting, rules-based calculations, matter maintenance, and user support.
β’ Experience with software upgrades, rule updates, enhancements, data migration, implementations, or system conversions is preferred.
β’ Advanced understanding of litigation deadlines, federal and state court rules, local rules, appellate rules, and court-specific practices.
β’ Ability to interpret court rules, analyze complex procedural issues, document findings, and communicate guidance clearly.
β’ Strong writing, communication, organization, judgment, discretion, and attention to detail skills.
β’ Capability to manage high-volume, deadline-driven tasks while interacting professionally with attorneys, staff, vendors, court personnel, and firm leadership.
β’ Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications; experience with document management and matter management systems is preferred.
