This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Manage the budget for the legal department, including planning, tracking, forecasting, and variance analysis in collaboration with Finance.
• Supervise the outside counsel management program, which includes managing relationships with law firms, enforcing outside counsel guidelines, negotiating rates, and overseeing matter budgets.
• Act as the primary administrator for the e-billing platform and matter management system; ensure data accuracy and provide training to the legal team on these tools.
• Take ownership of the monthly accruals process in coordination with Finance, tracking unbilled outside counsel expenditures, gathering estimates from law firms, and ensuring precise reporting during the close process.
• Lead the vendor selection and RFP processes for legal technology and outside counsel panels.
• Assess and implement AI and automation tools to alleviate administrative burdens on attorneys.
• Develop and maintain dashboards and reports on legal expenditures for leadership review.
• Identify and implement process enhancements across legal workflows.
• Design and implement process improvements to boost Legal's scalability, efficiency, and overall impact.
• Serve as a trusted partner and thought leader for attorneys and business stakeholders regarding operational best practices.
• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
• Over 5 years of experience in legal operations, legal project management, or a related field.
• At least 2 years of experience working in or closely with an in-house legal team, demonstrating a solid understanding of outside counsel management, e-billing, and financial management (global experience is advantageous).
• Practical experience with e-billing technology (Brightflag preferred) and familiarity with matter management tools.
• Strong technical proficiency and comfort with legal technology and the implementation, administration, and adoption of processes.
• Proven ability to manage cross-functional projects from initiation to completion, with strong change management capabilities.
• Outstanding organizational skills with the capacity to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Analytical mindset with experience in converting data into insights and actionable recommendations.
• A proactive, solution-oriented approach with a history of improving processes and delivering measurable outcomes.
