Manager, Human Data Operations

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North America.

📋 Description

• Take full ownership of quality and delivery for essential Human Data initiatives, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and adherence to guidelines on a large scale.

• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Team Leads and AI Tutors (both full-time and contractors), focusing on performance management, career advancement, and talent pipeline development.

• Oversee a globally distributed workforce comprising various employment types (full-time employees and contractors), promoting strong collaboration and consistent standards across different time zones.

• Work closely with Program Staff, Go-to-Market teams, and Engineering teams to grasp model requirements and convert them into precise data specifications and labeling strategies.

• Establish and continually enhance operational standards, annotation guidelines, taxonomy, and quality assurance methods.

• Enhance efficiency and scalability by identifying and addressing bottlenecks, implementing process enhancements, and utilizing metrics/KPIs to monitor performance (e.g., send-back rate, tutor utilization, lead time).

• Recruit, onboard, and cultivate top talent while fostering a high-performance, merit-based culture with strong accountability.

• Design and refine training programs, certification procedures, and onboarding systems for new team members and leaders.

• Serve as the representative voice of the tutors while connecting Team Leads with Human Data Engineers to promote ongoing improvement.

• Provide updates on program status, risks, and outcomes to senior leadership while encouraging cross-functional alignment.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 2 years of leadership experience, including managing Team Leads or equivalent managerial roles.

• Demonstrated success in delivering high-quality operations at scale (e.g., in data annotation, AI training/evaluation, content quality, operations, or related fields).

• Basic knowledge of AI/ML concepts and an understanding of how high-quality training data affects model performance.

• Familiarity with project management tools such as Notion, JIRA, Linear, or Axiom.
