Manager, Government Affairs

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Washington.

📋 Description

• In the role of Manager, Government Affairs, you will serve as a pivotal external leader within our Policy and Government Affairs team. Your responsibilities will include developing and implementing SoFi's government relations strategy, directly advocating for our objectives with policymakers, and overseeing a network of relationships with essential external organizations.

• You will collaborate closely with our Public Policy leader, who will offer internal policy support and analysis, ensuring that our advocacy efforts are well-informed and strategically aligned with the interests of our members.

• Furthermore, you will team up with our Stakeholder Affairs leader to enhance our advocacy through strategic engagement with trade associations, think tanks, and other third-party entities. This position reports to the Director of Policy and Government Affairs.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in government affairs, focusing on direct lobbying and managing external relationships. Ideally, this includes experience in a U.S. government or congressional office as well as within the government affairs team of a fintech, payments, or financial services company.

• Established expertise in political and government affairs tactics and strategies, complemented by a robust network of relationships in Washington D.C. and/or significant state capitals.

• Demonstrated experience in managing and ensuring compliance with political giving and federal lobbying disclosure regulations.

• Skilled in identifying intricate legislative issues and converting them into actionable, externally-focused advocacy strategies.

• Outstanding communication, writing, and presentation abilities, with a proven history of effective public speaking and relationship development.

• An advanced degree (Law, Public Policy, Political Management, Economics, Communications, Legislative Affairs, Political Science, or a related field) is preferred.
