This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Formulate and oversee the annual budget along with quarterly re-forecasts, ensuring the budgeting process is efficient.
• Collaborate closely with business units and Finance teams to create monthly, quarterly, and annual expense projections.
• Partner with the People Ops team to establish and monitor payroll expenses and associated metrics.
• Conduct variance analysis on actual results compared to forecasts, offering actionable insights based on this analysis.
• Support the financial reporting team during month-end close to ensure accuracy and completeness of data.
• Prepare materials for external board meetings and other deliverables.
• Assist with various ad-hoc projects as needed.
• 6-8 years of experience in a financial capacity, with a requirement for FP&A experience.
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities with a keen eye for detail; proficient in Excel (or Google Sheets) and PowerPoint (or Google Slides), with hands-on experience in Adaptive Insights being advantageous.
• Capability to establish, monitor, and assess performance metrics.
• Practical experience in extracting and analyzing complex data; strong skills in financial modeling.
• Ability to excel in a rapidly growing and dynamic environment.
• A strong interest in addressing challenging and significant problems, with a willingness to delve deeply into business processes to understand the how and why.
• A naturally inquisitive mindset; when something appears amiss, act promptly to investigate.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and a readiness to collaborate with diverse team members; possess the confidence and tact necessary to convey perspectives to both senior stakeholders and peers.
• Strong communication skills, including effective writing abilities and the capacity to simplify complex ideas; adept at accurately narrating the story behind the numbers compellingly.
• Confidence in adopting new methodologies, including function automation, while seeking continuous improvement.
• Brings innovative ideas to Wealthsimple and takes initiative without needing direction.
