Manager, Data Scientist – Engagement & Platform

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Portugal.

📋 Description

• Conceptualize and construct machine learning models aimed at outreach personalization, encompassing contextual bandits, reinforcement learning, and classification techniques.

• Create and refine AI agents that produce dynamic, tailored nudge content and conversational strategies.

• Design and assess large-scale A/B tests and experimentation frameworks to appraise ML models, data-driven signals, nudges, and content approaches. Establish success metrics and guarantee statistically valid experimentation methodologies.

• Collaborate on the architecture of data pipelines and event schemas that support the product, ensuring top-notch data for real-time decision-making and offline analysis.

• Develop and execute comprehensive monitoring frameworks for the product, focusing on short-term engagement metrics, long-term retention, opt-out rates, and intervention fatigue.

• Guide, mentor, and nurture the data scientists within the team. Set the technical vision, ensure quality delivery, and promote strong collaboration with Product and Engineering stakeholders.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, or a related discipline;

• Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in Data Science, Machine Learning, or Applied AI roles;

• At least 3 years of experience in managing and developing data science teams;

• Strong expertise in Python and familiarity with ML frameworks (e.g., Vowpal Wabbit, PyTorch, or similar);

• Solid understanding of experimentation, A/B testing, and large-scale experimentation design and analysis;

• Experience with Generative AI systems in production settings;

• Strong analytical skills and the capability to convert product objectives into measurable, data-driven outcomes;

• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across Product and Engineering teams.
