Manager, Data Protection & Compliance

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Germany.

📋 Description

• Enhance and progressively develop data protection and compliance management.

• Assume responsibility for the implementation and ongoing enhancement of processes, standards, and policies related to data protection and compliance.

• Provide guidance to senior management and business functions on legal, regulatory, and organizational issues.

• Identify, evaluate, and monitor risks associated with data protection and compliance.

• Oversee critical data protection processes, including records of processing activities, data protection impact assessments, data processing agreements, data breaches, and data subject rights.

• Assist with audits, certifications, and control measures, along with the execution of resulting requirements.

• Foster awareness of data protection and compliance through training, communication, and practical guidance.

• Establish a network of pertinent internal and external stakeholders.

• Provide regular updates to senior management regarding the status of significant data protection and compliance issues.

⛳️ Requirements

• A university degree in law, business law, or a similar qualification with a legal emphasis.

• Multiple years of professional experience in data protection, compliance management, or similar governance roles.

• Comprehensive understanding of the GDPR, the German Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG), and other pertinent legal frameworks.

• Experience in creating, developing, or implementing data protection and compliance structures is a plus.

• Hands-on experience with audits, certifications, or management systems, such as ISO 27001 or equivalent standards.

• Capability to articulate legal and regulatory requirements clearly, practically, and with a solution-oriented mindset.

• Organized, self-directed, and responsible work style.

• Strong integrity, discretion, and sense of responsibility.

• Exceptional communication and advisory abilities.

• Confident demeanor while collaborating with business functions, managers, and senior leadership.

• Pragmatic mindset with the ability to align regulatory requirements with the practical demands of daily operations.
