This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.
• Oversee and/or facilitate the creation of financial statements, business activity reports, forecasts of financial positions, budgets, or reports mandated by regulatory bodies.
• Assess the requirements for securing funds and investing surplus resources, providing suitable recommendations.
• Establish internal control policies, guidelines, and procedures for areas such as budget management, cash and credit oversight, and accounting practices.
• Coordinate and manage financial planning, budgeting, procurement, or investment initiatives for all or specific segments of the organization.
• Generate financial data.
• Track ratio and key performance indicators (KPI).
• Supervise and evaluate the performance of accounting and other financial personnel, suggesting and executing necessary actions.
• Counsel management on both short-term and long-term financial goals, policies, and strategies.
• Regularly communicate with boards, bankers, investors, and stakeholders; may involve preparing for and/or leading board presentations.
• A BA/BS degree in accounting or a related discipline is required.
• A minimum of 6 years of pertinent experience in accounting, consulting, auditing, and/or preparation of financial statements within the nonprofit sector.
• Previous supervisory experience is necessary.
• Relevant experience in grant accounting is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with generally accepted accounting principles (FASB/SFAS) or other comprehensive accounting frameworks is essential.
• Experience in public accounting is preferred.
• CPA certification or passing of CPA exams is advantageous.
• Experience in an accounting back-office environment.
• Ability to develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of accounting software and systems.
• Experience with QuickBooks or Intacct is preferred.
• Proficiency in relevant software applications (Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.).
• Strong organizational skills with a goal-oriented and self-motivated approach.
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
• Capability to manage pressure in a professional and positive manner.
