Financial Controller

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take charge of the monthly closing process from start to finish, guaranteeing prompt and precise financial statements.

• Uphold the integrity of the general ledger, which includes reconciliations, journal entries, and adherence to accounting policies.

• Lead the preparation for annual audits while managing relationships with external auditors and tax consultants.

• Ensure compliance with US GAAP and maintain robust internal controls.

• Supervise accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll accounting, and expense management.

• Review and assess monthly operating expenses and budget variances, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.

• Collaborate with Finance leadership on financial reporting, encompassing monthly and quarterly reports for investors.

• Manage intercompany accounting and reconciliations, as necessary.

• Assist with tax compliance and filings in conjunction with external advisors.

• Work cross-functionally with Operations, Product, Tech, People, and other departments to ensure financial accuracy and alignment.

• Identify, design, and implement process enhancements to boost efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.

• Aid in the transition and stabilization of accounting operations from current contractors and outdated processes.

⛳️ Requirements

• Active CPA is mandatory.

• Over 7 years of progressive accounting experience, including roles as Controller or Assistant Controller.

• Extensive technical accounting knowledge and a strong understanding of US GAAP.

• Documented experience managing the close process and overseeing audits.

• Exceptional attention to detail and a strong sense of responsibility.

• Capacity to operate both strategically and hands-on in a startup or rapidly growing environment.

• Strong analytical abilities with the skill to clearly communicate complex financial information.

• Experience with modern accounting software (Xero experience is a plus).

• Familiarity with multi-entity or group accounting and consolidations.

• Exposure to fintech, lending, insurance, or regulated financial products is highly advantageous.
