Manager, Cloud and Data Platform Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Arizona, +8 more states.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the application and data technology stack on Google Cloud, focusing on architecture, availability, performance, and lifecycle management.

• Oversee Cloud Run services, GKE clusters, Redis databases, BigQuery datasets, and related Google Cloud services.

• Design, construct, and sustain CI/CD pipelines for both application and data workloads.

• Supervise containerization, configuration management, and the lifecycle management of container images.

• Create, develop, and manage batch and streaming data pipelines into BigQuery.

• Build and oversee the BigQuery analytics data layer, including datasets and SQL-based transformations.

• Establish data quality checks, schema management, lineage tracking, observability, freshness targets, and reliability monitoring.

• Enforce data governance and security measures, encompassing access controls, sensitive data handling, and retention policies.

• Collaborate with analysts, product owners, and business stakeholders to produce dependable datasets and dashboards.

• Define and control infrastructure as code, automating provisioning, environment setup, and operational tasks.

• Implement monitoring, logging, tracing, alerting, service-level tracking, and platform health dashboards.

• Lead incident response, conduct root cause analysis, facilitate post-incident reviews, manage on-call activities, develop runbooks, and establish operating procedures.

• Administer IAM roles, service accounts, network configurations, secrets, and vulnerability scanning.

• Plan for capacity, manage autoscaling, backups, and disaster recovery protocols.

• Collaborate with software engineering, security, and operations teams to design cloud architecture and technical solutions.

• Utilize AI to expedite development and automation processes.

• Create AI agents to automate workflows and operational tasks.

• Assess Google Cloud services and contribute to roadmap and strategic planning initiatives.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in DevOps, site reliability, cloud, platform, or data engineering.

• Practical experience with Google Cloud Platform, including Cloud Run, GKE, Redis, and BigQuery.

• Proven experience in building or supporting production data pipelines.

• Familiarity with Cloud Run, GKE, Redis, BigQuery, and IAM.

• In-depth understanding of Kubernetes and Docker.

• Experience with infrastructure as code and CI/CD pipelines.

• Proficient in at least one scripting or programming language, such as Python.

• Strong SQL capabilities.

• Experience utilizing AI tools for development and automation.

• Background in designing and managing data pipelines and ETL/ELT workflows, including orchestration, data modeling, and data quality practices.

• Excellent problem-solving, troubleshooting, and decision-making abilities.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred, or equivalent practical experience.

• Google Cloud certification is preferred.

• Experience with GitOps tooling, event-driven architectures, or API gateways is preferred.

• Familiarity with Cloud Composer/Airflow and BI tools such as PowerBI is preferred.

• Experience in developing AI agents is preferred.
