Manager, Application Development

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Oversee a team of developers in the planning, design, coordination, and execution of software applications.

• Cultivate relationships with various stakeholders and take the initiative in gathering requirements.

• Engage in core product development, products for the growth division, and the creation of new products.

• Identify technical solutions and explore alternatives to fulfill business, end-user, and system requirements.

• Organize and lead project planning sessions, daily stand-up meetings, reviews, retrospectives, sprint and release planning, demos, and other Scrum-related gatherings.

• Monitor and report on team velocity and the progress of sprints/releases.

• Define system responsibilities and document the data flows between systems.

• Create epics and detailed user stories to enrich the product backlog.

• Estimate stories in the backlog to aid in release planning, project approvals, and prioritization.

• Guide and direct the application development team to support business operations.

• Approve and coordinate holidays and absences for team members.

• Promote ongoing system updates, including hardware and platform solutions.

• Provide technical guidance to programmers working on development project teams.

• Ensure that development teams adhere to the core agile principles of collaboration, prioritization, team accountability, and visibility.

⛳️ Requirements

• Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Application Development, or Information Technology.

• At least 4 years of hands-on experience in technical leadership and people management.

• Proven experience in overseeing the technical direction of large-scale projects.

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple teams.

• Capacity to analyze processes and information, pinpoint issues and trends, and devise effective solutions and strategies.

• A minimum of 10 years of experience in Development is preferred.

• Agile Certification or Project Management Certification is preferred.

• Familiarity with Ruby on Rails is preferred.

• Experience within a cloud-based infrastructure is preferred.

• Bilingual proficiency in French, Spanish, or German is preferred.
