Manager, Agentic AI

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Czechia.

📋 Description

• Lead and nurture the Agentic AI engineering team by setting goals, providing feedback, coaching, managing performance, guiding career development, and allocating ownership.

• Directly engage in the design, implementation, and management of significant components of Esko’s shared Agentic AI platform.

• Influence the technical direction, architecture, interfaces, and standards of engineering quality for the platform.

• Convert recurring product and engineering requirements into reusable capabilities for the platform.

• Establish engineering practices focusing on reliability, security, observability, evaluation, performance, and compatibility.

• Assist product engineering teams in utilizing the shared platform and deploying domain-specific agentic features into production.

• Encourage experimentation, learning, challenging assumptions, and making evidence-based technical decisions while ensuring accountability in production.

• Define and implement metrics for platform adoption, quality, operational performance, delivery efficiency, and team development.

• Collaborate with teams across product engineering, architecture, cloud platform, security, compliance, product management, and design.

• Contribute to the overarching AI strategy at Esko and engage in discussions with customers or industry stakeholders.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive production software engineering experience in Python, TypeScript, Java, or a comparable programming language.

• Proven experience in designing, building, and managing reliable systems.

• Demonstrated capability in leading and developing engineering talent, including managing teams, providing coaching, delivering performance feedback, and fostering meaningful technical ownership.

• Experience in constructing a platform, API, or shared service utilized by various teams.

• Background in designing or building production AI systems leveraging large language models, tool usage, or agentic workflows.

• Practical awareness of the limitations and risks associated with AI systems.

• History of transforming uncertain or early-stage technical concepts into reliable production capabilities through evaluation, implementation, and adoption.

• Ability to balance platform coherence with valid product and domain-specific differences.

• Experience in collaborating across product engineering, architecture, infrastructure, security, and business functions within a global organization.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

• An undergraduate, Master’s degree, or PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, or related fields.

• Preferred: Experience in the packaging graphics, prepress, CAD, or broader graphic arts industry.

• Preferred: Experience in developing or managing multi-tenant SaaS or cloud platform functionalities.

• Preferred: Familiarity with AI evaluation, observability, security controls, governance, or other foundational production elements for agentic systems.
