Major Gifts & Development Associate

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Africa.

📋 Description

• Conduct research and profile significant donors, foundations, and conference participants ahead of CEO engagements to optimize the effectiveness of each meeting.

• Take ownership of follow-up communications. Compose outreach emails, thank-you notes, and cultivation messages as the CEO, ensuring appropriate tone, timing, and next steps are maintained.

• Guide donors through the cultivation process — from the initial outreach to scheduled meetings and ultimately to secured commitments.

• Identify and monitor grant opportunities that align with Parity’s mission while managing submission timelines from start to finish.

• Craft persuasive grant proposals, letters of inquiry, donor reports, and major gift case statements.

• Prepare the CEO for speaking engagements and conferences by creating briefing materials that highlight funding opportunities.

• Keep the donor CRM updated and current, ensuring the pipeline remains actionable.

• Actively identify new funding strategies and prospecting ideas — taking initiative without waiting for direction.

⛳️ Requirements

• Experience in business development, nonprofit development, major gifts, or a donor-facing fundraising role — we prioritize your achievements over your job title.

• Proven success in writing grant proposals or major donor communications that have led to funding.

• Understanding of donor cultivation strategies and the major gifts cycle.

• Ability to operate as an extension of a CEO or senior leader — writing in their voice, representing their brand, and managing follow-through.

• Experience in a startup, early-stage organization, or resource-constrained environment is a definite advantage.

• Familiarity with CRM systems (any platform) is beneficial but not mandatory.
