Major Case Consultant, Specialized Claims

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Take the lead on intricate case investigations and negotiate substantial claims independently.

• Assess coverage, liability, and financial risks while showcasing expertise in reserving strategies and financial insight.

• Oversee litigation strategies and formulate customized resolution approaches in collaboration with top-tier defense attorneys.

• Act as a subject matter expert (SME) within the claims organization, aiding in the development of fellow claims professionals through direct mentoring and exemplifying best adjusting practices.

• Review training initiatives and suggest enhancements.

• Deliver pertinent reports to underwriting and reinsurance while working alongside underwriting, agents, vendors, and legal teams to enhance policy language and refine risk selection in underwriting.

• Optimize workflows and rectify discrepancies.

• Participate in special projects.

• Attend industry conferences and continuing education sessions to remain updated on best practices.

• Cultivate and sustain strong relationships with business partners.

⛳️ Requirements

• Preferred bachelor’s degree; equivalent experience will be considered. JD is preferred or equivalent legal/claims experience. Industry designations (e.g., CPCU, AIC) are highly favored.

• Significant experience in managing highly complex, high-value claims with considerable legal, financial, and reputational implications.

• Acknowledged expert in the negotiation and resolution of complicated claims.

• Proven expertise in evaluating policy coverage, legal liabilities, and regulatory frameworks across various jurisdictions.

• Established capability to manage litigation strategies and direct legal counsel.

• Experience in mentoring peers and aiding in the development of claims handling standards.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distill complex information and address sensitive matters with professionalism.

• Capacity to produce clear, factual, and objective documentation without personal opinion.

• Proficient in choosing suitable communication methods and demonstrating empathy towards diverse stakeholder groups.

• Highly organized with a proven track record of managing intricate workflows and competing priorities.

• Strategic thinker with sound judgment and the ability to make informed decisions autonomously.
