Maintenance Technician – Solar Monitoring System

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Michigan.

📋 Description

• Maintain the highest standard of communication as the initial point of contact for field equipment.

• Ensure all equipment is leveled and cleaned weekly.

• Offer troubleshooting assistance (with support from UL Solutions) and repairs for low to medium complexity issues when requested.

• Verify that there is no debris obstructing the system (depending on the site/region, this may include grass cutting, snow removal, or brush clearing).

• Confirm the security of the system and check for any signs of tampering.

• Each maintenance visit is expected to last between 60 to 90 minutes.

• UL Solutions requires a weekly Excel logbook to be uploaded online, along with photos and other documentation to support the visit, which should take 45 to 90 minutes.

• The entire process is estimated to take between 2 to 4 hours each week, including travel time to and from the site.

• Occasionally, UL Solutions may request your help in replacing or troubleshooting equipment.

⛳️ Requirements

• Previous solar experience is not mandatory, but it is preferred.

• Must be able to follow instructions remotely throughout the duration of the contract.

• Own transportation is required to travel to and from the remote SMS location (4WD/AWD preferred).

• Ability to climb and work comfortably from a 6 or 8-foot ladder (which will be provided).

• Maintenance of equipment requires the use of levels, screwdrivers, and other hand tools (all provided).

• Demonstrated computer literacy is essential, including the ability to upload attachments using their own version of Microsoft Office (Excel and Word) to our SharePoint website with reliable internet access.

• A smartphone is necessary for taking site photos and for communication with UL Solutions' staff during emergencies.

• A desktop computer, laptop, or tablet with internet capabilities is required for uploading maintenance photos and updating the Excel maintenance logbook.

• All relevant information must be treated as confidential.
