Mainframe Developer – Contract

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Carolina.

📋 Description

• Design and sustain Mainframe applications utilizing COBOL, CA-ADS, and IDMS databases.

• Review technical and design documents to implement application improvements and production corrections.

• Conduct debugging, unit testing, and integration testing of application modifications.

• Assist with Quality Assurance, User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and external testing by addressing defects and applying necessary code modifications.

• Work in conjunction with development, QA, operations, and business teams throughout the software development lifecycle.

• Manage and support production Medicaid applications and associated systems.

• Engage in on-call production support on a rotating basis.

• Diagnose production issues and deliver prompt resolutions.

• Effectively communicate technical solutions to internal teams and stakeholders.

• Adhere to established coding standards, documentation protocols, and change management processes.

⛳️ Requirements

• Over 10 years of experience in Mainframe development.

• More than 10 years of experience in MVS COBOL development.

• Over 10 years of experience with IDMS databases.

• Over 10 years of experience in CA-ADS development.

• At least 5 years of experience with JCL.

• Strong experience in debugging, testing, and production support.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.

• Capability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a dynamic production environment.
