Machine Learning Engineer, New Grad

📋 Description

• Create, construct, and implement LLM-driven agents aimed at identifying and mitigating spam, harassment, and other content that violates policies at the scale of Quora.

• Develop automated workflows to streamline complex tasks and enhance content and user moderation systems.

• Design and refine machine learning systems that adapt to changing abuse patterns and emerging challenges.

• Assess agent performance through offline evaluations, online tests, and production monitoring, ensuring a balance between accuracy, reliability, latency, and cost.

• Analyze failure scenarios, experiment with innovative strategies, and iterate on solutions to boost system performance.

• Recognize opportunities to leverage machine learning and LLMs to enhance content quality and safety throughout Quora.

• Collaborate with skilled engineers and take ownership of projects from initial development to full production.

⛳️ Requirements

• Availability for meetings and spontaneous communication during Quora's coordination hours (Monday to Friday: 9am-3pm Pacific Time).

• B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, either completed or in progress.

• Strong grasp of the mathematical principles underpinning Machine Learning algorithms.

• Experience with coursework, research, or projects involving LLM applications or transformer models.

• Proficient knowledge of Python.

• Ability to commence full-time work in early 2027.

• Previous software engineering experience through internships, job roles, open-source contributions, or coding competitions (preferred).

• Practical experience in building and assessing LLM agents (preferred).

• Regular usage of AI coding tools such as Claude Code or Codex (preferred).

• Involvement in coursework or projects related to natural language processing (NLP) (preferred).

• A sincere interest in content safety and quality (preferred).

• A strong passion for Quora's mission and objectives (preferred).
