This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Identify and source software companies that align with our acquisition criteria and key performance indicators.
• Develop and implement targeted prospecting campaigns through email and outbound calls, while continuously testing new business development strategies, gaining exposure to a significant volume of deal opportunities.
• Build and maintain relationships with potential acquisition targets and sell-side M&A investment banking firms.
• Lead initial evaluations of potential acquisitions, which include preliminary business and financial due diligence, as well as assessments of opportunities and risks.
• Own and oversee a comprehensive deal pipeline, ensuring it is regularly updated with new targets and information, while collaborating with a team of entrepreneurial, high-performing, and motivated individuals.
• Conduct industry and market research to identify trends and discover new acquisition opportunities.
• Review and analyze investment materials, synthesizing large amounts of data into clear, concise, and actionable insights and presentations.
• Independently advance acquisition opportunities by grasping deal scope and sustaining momentum throughout the process, gaining exposure to the entire deal lifecycle from sourcing to execution.
• Effectively prioritize and delegate tasks based on deal timelines and strategic significance.
• Provide ad hoc analytical and operational support to the broader team as required.
• Collaborate across functions to support data requests, due diligence, internal alignment, and successful deal execution.
• 2–3 years of experience in Investment Banking, Private Equity, or Corporate Development is essential.
• Previous experience with software M&A transactions is mandatory.
• Strong academic performance from a prestigious institution.
• An undergraduate degree in business or a related field is preferred.
• Professional maturity and confidence in engaging with C-level executives.
• Highly proactive, self-motivated, and driven, with exceptional sales and communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal abilities and demonstrated leadership potential.
• Solid grounding in accounting principles and financial modeling.
• Understanding of software business models and the M&A transaction lifecycle.
• Strong analytical skills, pattern recognition abilities, and advanced proficiency in Excel.
