This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Florida.

📋 Description

• Oversee first-party property lawsuits and litigated matters from referral to resolution by selecting and directing defense counsel, establishing litigation plans and budgets, monitoring case strategy, and providing settlement authority.

• Primarily manage homeowner first-party property disputes in strict compliance with state-specific insurance regulations and K2 Claims’ Best Practices.

• Address and manage appraisal demands, including appointing appraisers, assisting in umpire selection, and resolving valuation and scope-of-damage disputes through the appraisal process.

• Propel complex claims towards resolution through negotiation, mediation, arbitration, and appraisal, while minimizing exposure and costs.

• Examine policy coverage and draft detailed reservation of rights and/or coverage declination letters.

• Verify loss facts by obtaining statements, analyzing documents, and assessing damages.

• Prepare detailed reports for senior management and clients regarding claim status, recommended reserves, and strategic action plans.

• Negotiate settlements effectively within assigned authority.

• Where applicable, assess liability exposure, evaluate risk transfer options, and determine insurance priority.

• Identify and refer suitable claims to subrogation or the Special Investigation Unit (SIU).


⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of experience managing first-party property claims, with a proven track record in handling litigated files and disputed claims.

• Strong preference for experience in homeowner first-party property litigation.

• Familiarity with the appraisal process and appraisal demands, along with mediation, arbitration, and other dispute resolution methods.

• Demonstrated ability to manage complex, high-exposure claims and collaborate effectively with defense counsel.

• Knowledge of liability claims and risk transfer principles is a significant advantage.

• Prior experience in a TPA or insurance carrier setting, managing diverse programs.

• Capability to obtain and maintain all necessary state adjuster licenses, with a preference for a California adjuster’s license.

• A bachelor’s degree is preferred.

• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with a strong emphasis on customer service.

• Must be adaptable for occasional business travel for training, mediations, and/or trials.
