This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.
• The Legal Practice Specialist for Texas acts as a subject-matter expert in Texas litigation practices, collaborating across sales, product, operations, and customer support.
• This position is tailored for a seasoned Texas litigation paralegal or legal assistant transitioning into legal technology, situated at the crossroads of sales, marketing, product, and operations, and reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer.
• The individual in this role will train and support the sales team, represent the voice of Texas customers in product and workflow development, ground new products (including AI-driven tools) in practical application, liaise with courts regarding procedural requirements, and offer practitioner and market insights to aid leadership in growth planning within Texas.
• A minimum of four (4) years of practical experience as a litigation paralegal or legal assistant specializing in Texas civil litigation. Preference is given to those with plaintiff-side experience, such as personal injury or consumer law.
• Practical eFiling experience across various Texas counties using eFileTexas, including an understanding of county-specific differences in clerk review, rejection reasons, and citation issuance.
• Proven experience in coordinating service of process, which includes engaging certified process servers, tracking service attempts, reviewing affidavits and returns, and assisting with motions for substituted service.
• Hands-on experience in monitoring Texas dockets, deadlines, and case statuses across courts, with a preference for experience in multiple Texas metropolitan areas.
• Extensive knowledge of the Texas trial court system, clerk practices, and mandatory eFiling procedures at the county level.
• Strong understanding of Texas service of process rules and practices, including methods of service, documentation of diligence, affidavits, and proof-of-service instruments.
• Proven ability to educate others: has trained colleagues, created training materials or internal documentation, and can clearly explain procedures to individuals without legal backgrounds.
• Proficiency with legal software beyond basic usage, including an ability to assess new systems, test updates, and report reproducible findings.
• Capability to work effectively across various functions and in uncertain environments, translating firm-side practice knowledge into product, marketing, and strategic recommendations.
• Active participation in professional associations (paralegal, bar, or trial lawyer organizations), contributing to initiatives, training sessions, or events is preferred.
• Must be a resident of the United States.
• Certifications: Paralegal certification (such as Texas Board of Legal Specialization or NALA Certified Paralegal) is preferred.
