Legal Intern, Immigrants' Rights Project

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Acquire hands-on experience in impact litigation and various legal advocacy methods concerning immigrants' rights.

• Collaborate closely with attorneys in the development and litigation of cases across multiple jurisdictions.

• Prepare memoranda, affidavits, and briefs.

• Perform legal and policy research.

• Investigate potential new litigation, including factual and legal claims.

• Research and create public education materials.

• Monitor and analyze legislative bills.

⛳️ Requirements

• Currently enrolled as a legal student.

• Must be attending a U.S. law school and have completed the necessary coursework prior to the start of the internship.

• Required to be based in the U.S. throughout the entire internship period.

• Legally authorized to work to receive the stipend.

• Strong research abilities, including proficiency in internet and legal database research.

• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

• Keen attention to detail, along with organizational and time-management competencies.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

• Demonstrated initiative to complete projects successfully.

• Dedication to civil liberties, civil rights, and social justice.

• Commitment to furthering the ACLU mission.

• Strong focus on equity, inclusion, belonging, diversity, and diverse perspectives.

• Ability to work collaboratively and respectfully to resolve challenges and conflicts.

🏝️ Benefits

• Stipend of $24/hour (stipends are subject to taxation).

• Partial stipend available for students receiving external funding, allowing total funding to reach the ACLU’s stipend amount.
