This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
β’ Lead intricate investigations related to regulatory and supervisory issues, fraud, whistleblower allegations, sales practices, and customer impact - from crafting investigation strategies through conducting witness interviews and forensic document assessments.
β’ Assist in the legal response to operational and compliance incidents, encompassing cybersecurity, market behavior, consumer protection, and fraud.
β’ Contribute to our enterprise crisis management, as well as incident and escalation protocols.
β’ Collaborate with Compliance, Risk, Privacy, Finance, and Information Security to pinpoint risks and suggest improvements.
β’ Oversee litigation processes and address pre-litigation disputes or complaints, including the coordination of external legal counsel.
β’ Offer legal advice and strategic guidance on various legal matters affecting the business and devise customized solutions for complex challenges.
β’ LL.B. or J.D. and a member of a Canadian provincial bar association with current active membership.
β’ 5 to 7 years of litigation experience, ideally combining time in private practice and in-house roles.
β’ Proven expertise in areas related to litigation, internal investigations, and/or crisis management within a regulated sector, with a preference for experience advising financial institutions, technology, or Fintech companies.
