Legal Counsel

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Review, draft, negotiate, and oversee a diverse array of commercial agreements with clients, vendors, service providers, and business partners.

• Offer legal counsel and support on issues related to commercial law, contracts, privacy, regulatory compliance, corporate governance, and risk management.

• Collaborate with leaders and stakeholders throughout the organization to facilitate strategic business initiatives and operational priorities.

• Assist with real estate transactions, leasing agreements, and other property-related concerns.

• Identify legal risks and suggest recommendations that align with business goals.

• Work alongside external counsel when specialized knowledge is necessary.

• Keep abreast of legal and regulatory changes to ensure ongoing compliance.

• Contribute to legal projects, policy formulation, and continuous improvement efforts within the Legal Services team.

⛳️ Requirements

• Juris Doctor (JD) or Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.)

• Must be a member in good standing with a Law Society in at least one Canadian province

• 4-7 years of experience as a practicing attorney

• Experience serving as in-house counsel

• Significant experience in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex commercial contracts

• Outstanding communication, relationship-building, and stakeholder management abilities

• Strong business acumen and the capacity to provide effective legal advice in a complex business setting

• Proficient in managing competing priorities and working efficiently both independently and as part of a team

• Security Clearance Requirement: Reliability Status Clearance (Enhanced Level B), which includes Fingerprinting, Criminal Record Check, Credit Check, and residency in Canada for a minimum of 5 years with Permanent Resident or Citizenship Status.
