Legal Counsel

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Serve as a trusted advisor, handling a wide array of legal issues typical of a comprehensive corporate legal department.

• Place significant emphasis on drafting and negotiating commercial SaaS agreements, ensuring data privacy compliance, and navigating the legal complexities of emerging AI regulations.

• Manage litigation processes, provide guidance on product strategy, and assist with overall corporate governance.

⛳️ Requirements

• Education & Credentials: Juris Doctor (J.D.) or Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from a recognized institution and active membership in good standing with a pertinent Bar Association or Law Society.

• Experience: 2–3+ years of legal practice, preferably with a blend of training from a top-tier law firm and in-house experience at a technology or SaaS company.

• Product & Strategic Mindset: Experience or a strong interest in serving as product counsel, with the capability to analyze product integrations and technical workflows from a legal perspective.

• Privacy & AI Acumen: Solid foundational knowledge of data privacy regulations. Demonstrated familiarity with, or a strong interest in, AI legal challenges, data scraping, and technology ethics.

• Commercial Acumen: Proven history of negotiating commercial technology transactions and partnership agreements with sophisticated enterprise clients and procurement teams.

• Communication: Outstanding drafting abilities with the skill to convert complex legal concepts into clear, actionable guidance for non-legal stakeholders.

• Remote Autonomy: Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fully remote setting, while maintaining effective communication across various time zones.
