This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.
• Oversee the renewal and acquisition of TNC permits at both state and local levels.
• Track and provide guidance on regulatory reporting responsibilities currently managed by Operations Compliance.
• Spearhead regulatory compliance concerning state and municipal transportation network company regulations, including the interpretation of driver eligibility criteria, background check mandates, vehicle specifications, insurance requirements, and operational reporting.
• Analyze and interpret emerging TNC regulations and advise the business on necessary implementation actions.
• Create compliance matrices tailored to specific jurisdictions and establish scalable internal controls.
• Collaborate with Operations and Safety teams to ensure that driver onboarding, deactivation, and monitoring processes are compliant with regulatory standards.
• Lead the organization’s responses to regulatory audits and investigations, while also supporting Operational Compliance in addressing client audits and inquiries.
• Assist in the management of Federal Transit Administration requirements linked to federally funded programs through regulatory interpretation and compliance assistance.
• Ensure compliance with relevant FTA circulars and grant obligations, including procurement standards, coordination of drug and alcohol programs (where applicable), Title VI reporting support, and record retention requirements.
• Collaborate with Finance and Operations to maintain compliance with grant conditions and reporting protocols.
• Direct compliance initiatives related to the Americans with Disabilities Act concerning demand-response and paratransit services.
• Work alongside Product and Operations to ensure that service design adheres to ADA requirements regarding accessibility, nondiscrimination, and service equivalency.
• Create training materials and internal resources to promote awareness of accessibility responsibilities throughout the organization.
• Establish and uphold policies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and internal controls that align with transportation network company frameworks.
• Design compliance monitoring systems, dashboards, and reporting schedules for executive leadership.
• Conduct regular risk assessments to pinpoint gaps or emerging regulatory challenges.
• Provide compliance training to various cross-functional teams.
• Act as the primary liaison between Legal and Operations on matters of regulatory compliance.
• Raise significant compliance risks with clear, actionable solutions.
• Assist in preparing Executive- and Board-level reports on compliance status and regulatory developments.
• 5–10+ years of experience in regulatory compliance, ideally in public transit, transportation network companies, or similarly regulated operational sectors.
• Direct experience with transportation network company regulations is highly preferred.
• Familiarity with FTA-funded program requirements and public agency contracting is strongly favored.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to educate clients on compliance matters, effectively translating requirements for both internal and external stakeholders.
