This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.
• Act as the grade-level leader and subject-matter expert for your designated grade.
• Take ownership of resolving content and alignment challenges across various workstreams.
• Ensure that lessons, texts, and assessments at your grade level create a cohesive learning experience.
• Be responsible for confirming that all materials comply with the pertinent state ELA standards and frameworks.
• Assist in the creation of grade-level scopes and sequences.
• Contribute to the development of teacher-facing and student-facing lessons and materials that exemplify rigorous, scaffolded, and standards-aligned instruction.
• Create and refine formative and summative assessment items, rubrics, and performance tasks.
• Develop embedded scaffolding and differentiation tools such as graphic organizers, sentence frames, and leveled vocabulary supports.
• Oversee the review of lessons, activities, and assessments generated by contributors and AI for your grade.
• Aid in the continuous refinement of AI prompts and specifications that inform lesson design and production stages.
• Work collaboratively with senior designers, lesson and assessment authors, ELD specialists, and product and technology teams to incorporate feedback.
• A Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, Curriculum & Instruction, or a related field.
• More than 5 years of experience in secondary ELA curriculum development, instructional design, or content creation, ideally within an educational technology or publishing organization (experience in school- or district-based curriculum development is also valued).
• Solid understanding of secondary ELA pedagogy and state standards and frameworks such as CCSS, encompassing reading development, writing instruction, and best practices in assessment.
• Exceptional English writing and editing skills, with a proven ability to produce polished, standards-aligned instructional content and provide clear, constructive feedback to other writers.
• A discerning eye for quality and meticulous attention to detail when reviewing materials, capable of making informed, well-reasoned content decisions independently.
• A strong sense of ownership—you take responsibility for the outcomes at your grade level, uphold commitments, identify risks early, and maintain high standards for yourself and others.
• Comfort and proficiency with AI tools, along with a keen interest in leveraging them to enhance high-quality content development while maintaining pedagogical integrity.
• Strong organizational abilities and verbal communication skills, enabling you to manage multiple workstreams and prioritize effectively in alignment with business needs.
