📋 Description

• Facilitate Mentor Training & Development

• Create and implement onboarding programs that equip mentors for diverse environments, teaching them how to conduct effective sessions, engage students of varying ages, and manage unexpected situations in both large classrooms and smaller club settings.

• Establish ongoing professional development initiatives that enhance mentors' skills in delivering the program smoothly, including office hours, monthly live sessions, and coaching check-ins.

• Produce practical, mentor-oriented resources (videos, how-to guides, templates, quick-reference sheets) tailored to the working style of mentors.

• Collaborate with Curriculum and Program Teams

• Evaluate new lesson plans and activities prior to implementation: Is the information clear? Will mentors have the necessary materials? Does it fit within a 60-minute timeframe?

• Offer feedback that aids the curriculum team in designing for effective real-world application.

• Transform curriculum into mentor-ready training: convert lesson plans into practical "how-to" guides for execution.

• Work alongside Regional Program Managers who oversee mentors directly. You will provide training resources while they offer local support and accountability.

• Collaborate with the data team to assess effectiveness: which activities pose challenges for mentors? Where are fidelity scores lacking?

• Engage College-Aged Mentors in Relevant Ways

• Create training that aligns with college students’ content consumption preferences: brief videos, push notifications, text-based tips, and interactive modules.

• Explore innovative formats, ranging from a mentor training podcast to quick-tip video series and LMS modules.

• Stay informed about what motivates and engages the current generation of mentors; strategies that were effective five years ago may not resonate today.

• Get Into the Field

• Dedicate approximately 10–15% of your time to observing mentors, discussing their experiences, and utilizing insights gained to enhance the practicality and responsiveness of training to meet their actual needs.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience, coupled with 3+ years of practical experience in education, instructional design, curriculum development, youth development, training and coaching, public health, or a related area.

• Knowledge of instructional design frameworks and the capability to apply them in real-world, time-sensitive training situations.

• Proven ability to connect with young adults, especially college students, and engage them effectively.

• Experience across various learning environments or age groups is advantageous.

• Technologically adept: comfortable using learning management systems (experience with LearnUpon is a plus), able to create and edit videos, familiar with design tools like Canva, and quick to adapt to new platforms.

• Willingness to travel nationally as required (estimated 10–15% travel).
