This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Oversee the design, implementation, and upkeep of internal tools and systems to enhance workflows across all areas.
• Create custom editor tools, content pipelines, and asset management systems that seamlessly integrate with Unreal Engine 5.
• Work in collaboration with other departments to proactively pinpoint bottlenecks, pain points, and optimization opportunities.
• Enhance and integrate existing tools utilized across projects and within the organization.
• Partner with production and recruiting teams to recruit, onboard, and define the scope for the tools engineering team.
• Translate tool support requests into meaningful and actionable tasks while effectively delegating to the team, ensuring timely processing of deliverables.
• Suggest tools or technologies that could improve the ability to provide excellent systems support.
• Offer direct management and mentorship to your team members, promoting their professional development and career aspirations.
• Collaborate closely with designers, artists, and other developers to understand their requirements and ensure your team is aligned across disciplines to meet expectations.
• Guarantee that the tooling pipeline operates efficiently throughout.
• Produce high-quality code that is optimized, free of bugs, and aligned with project objectives.
• A minimum of 5+ years of professional programming experience in the gaming industry.
• At least 2 years of experience in a leadership capacity.
• Strong proficiency in C++ programming.
• Significant experience with Unreal Engine or comparable AAA game engines.
• Skilled in UI/UX design, particularly with Slate, Editor Utility Widgets, or similar frameworks.
• Ability to think creatively and strategically to solve technical challenges and promote technological innovation.
• A customer-focused work ethic.
• Nice to have: (please note that these skills are not required to apply for the position)
• Previous experience on a released AAA title.
• Familiarity with a scripting language or system, such as Blueprint, Python, or MEL.
• Experience with Digital Content Creation software.
• Knowledge of C#.
• Experience with build system software such as Jenkins or Horde.
