This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.
• Establish and uphold best practices for the creation, optimization, implementation, and workflow of assets.
• Design custom tools, automation systems, and editor extensions using Unreal Engine and DCC applications such as Maya and Houdini.
• Act as the primary Technical Art liaison between the Art, Engineering, Design, and Production teams.
• Identify production bottlenecks and implement scalable solutions to enhance team efficiency and content quality.
• Assess new technologies, workflows, and Unreal Engine features to align with project objectives.
• Promote a positive, collaborative, and highly engaged team culture while ensuring accountability and continuous feedback.
• Build and nurture strong interdepartmental relationships, breaking down barriers and encouraging cooperation to achieve studio-wide goals.
• Advocate for employee growth through mentorship and learning initiatives.
• Assist artists with technical implementation, troubleshooting, and performance enhancement.
• Collaborate with rendering and gameplay engineers to develop and refine visual features and workflows.
• Ensure that art content is optimized for multiplayer gameplay across designated platforms.
• Analyze and address performance bottlenecks related to rendering, memory utilization, streaming, shaders, and content budgets.
• Over 8 years of professional experience as a Technical Artist in the gaming industry.
• Proven experience in leading a team.
• Demonstrated experience in shipping at least one AAA or high-quality AA title on PC and/or console platforms.
• Proficient in creating custom tools and pipeline solutions for Unreal Engine, Maya, Houdini, or other DCC applications.
• Strong grasp of Physically Based Rendering (PBR), linear workflows, shader development, and current real-time rendering techniques.
• Advanced expertise in Unreal Engine 5, including Blueprints, Materials, Niagara, asset management, and performance optimization processes.
• Proficiency in programming languages, preferably C++/HLSL/Python or equivalent.
• Solid understanding of performance profiling and optimization strategies for game engines.
• Bonus: Experience in shipping multiplayer titles.
• Familiarity with procedural content generation workflows and Houdini Engine.
